Learn French Brooklyn provides French language and multicultural education for children ages four through eight years old. Our After School Enrichment Program offers a structured curriculum focused on language proficiency and cultural knowledge. Lessons are accessible and fun—taught through themes, books, games, art and songs.
Classes are held at PLAY Kids Greenpoint at 33 Nassau Street, Brooklyn NY 11222
School closures and holidays have been accounted for in the schedule. The after school program is closed on the following holidays:
February 12 -19, March 29 - April 2, May 13, and May 31

Les petits cuisiniers
Little Chefs
Children learn the joy of cooking in a kid-friendly and safe environment. Your little chef will learn easy French-American, healthy and plant-based recipes and will discover the basics of cooking while participating in the preparation. They will learn how to measure dry ingredients, mix various batters and most importantly discover and taste multicultural foods! Examples of food we will be making are smoothies, cakes, dips, and more!

Les petits artistes
Little Artists
This class is an introduction to famous artists and their popular artwork. Your little artist will discover art history and will be exposed to new art processes and techniques. Students will use their mind creatively and create their own masterwork such as collages, sculptures, paintings, and drawings.

Little Scientists
Children will explore French through science and STEAM activities. Students will focus on building, understanding, critical thinking, and solving problems on different experiments. Your little scientists will explore different subjects in an integrated way through books, discussion, experiments, educational games and much more.

Little Musicians
Explore the joys of music and introduce your little musician to various musical instruments. Students will learn the basics of music including rhythm, pitch, dynamics through singing, dance, movement and they'll also create their own instruments!

Les petits lecteurs
What’s the story..?
This class prompts and develops oral and written language skills. Through reading and listening, students will discover a collection of french stories to build and improve the French language quickly and efficiently. Students will be encouraged to speak and share their thoughts in French while expanding their vocabulary and introducing writing.
Fun in French Class Series
January 19 - April 16
The purpose of these classes is to learn French in an Immersive environment while exploring themes and activities that are fun and exciting for children. Each class focuses on a topic where children will learn French vocabulary and basic terms through hands-on activities like cooking, science and music.

Introduction to French
French Discovery Class
This is a French discovery class for children ages 4 and 5 years old for children who have no knowledge of French. Students will learn basic French vocabulary including colors, numbers, greetings and more.
Our approach combines fun activities with weekly themes using songs, books and games.. At the end of this class students will be able to to identify and properly use basic French terms but also learn about French culture.
Tuesdays: January 19 - April 13 Ages 4-6

French for Francophones
French as a First Language
In this class students will follow the French curriculum level of CP continuing their French Education. Through the study of books, games and songs, children will enrich their vocabulary, learn French phonology and start reading basic words and sentences. The children will also discover the cursive alphabet and its tracing.
Fridays: January 22 - April 16 Ages 6-7

Introduction to French
French For Beginners
In this class students will discover and learn basic French vocabulary, learn how to introduce themselves and be able to answer simple questions in French. Through the use of games, songs, flashcards and role playing children will learn colors, numbers, greetings, animals, days of-the-week, seasons and more.

French for Francophones
French as a First Language
In this class students will follow the French curriculum level of CE1 continuing their French education. Children will continue to expand their French vocabulary but also their reading abilities through fun and exciting group and individual projects like making their own coming book, trivia games and more!

Introduction to French
French Level 1
In this class children will learn to speak and read in French. Through weekly themes and a method called “Les Alphas” students will learn how to speak about themselves and their family, express their feelings and talk about their passions. They will also learn basic vocabulary like numbers, days of the week, greetings, etc.
Foreign language learning enhances children's ability to focus, build confidence, academic achievement and communication. As the second most widely taught language in the world, learning French provides priceless opportunities to study and appreciate foreign cultures.
